We are actively recruiting graduate students from a diverse array of programs, including Genetics, Genomics & Bioinformatics, Cell, Molecular & Developmental Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Biophysics, among others. Additionally, we are seeking to appoint postdoctoral fellows, research associates, and staff scientists possessing expertise in virology, bioengineering, and mathematical modeling. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their curriculum vitae accompanied by a concise summary elucidating the alignment of their research interests with our overarching objectives. Submissions should be directed to Dr. Chaturvedi at sonalic(at)ucr(dot)edu.

Virology at UCR: Mammalian virology research at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) encompasses a broad range of studies focused on understanding viral infections, pathogenesis, and host-virus interactions in mammals. Research labs at UCR are involved in cutting-edge projects that include the development of antiviral therapies, vaccines, and diagnostic tools, leveraging advanced molecular and cellular techniques along with our state-of-the art Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3 and ABSL3) lab, we also benefit from the School of Medicine at UCR and neighboring hospitals. This research not only contributes to the global body of knowledge on viral diseases affecting mammals but also aims at improving public health through the discovery of novel treatment and prevention strategies. Along with being one of the members of the Association of American Universities (AAU) and a research intensive research institution, UCR has emerged as one of the most diverse universities and a leader in social mobility in the United States of America, ranking #2 in the country.

Location of UCR: UCR benefits from its strategic location in Southern California, with easy access to UCLA, UCI, UCSD and CalTech among other institutions for collaborations. Furthermore, within an hour one can reach famous attractions ranging from Los Angeles's entertainment and cultural venues to San Diego's beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife. Its proximity to Orange County, Palm Springs, Big Bear Lake, Joshua Tree National Park, and the Pacific Coast allows for diverse outdoor and recreational activities, including beach outings, hiking, visit to Disneyland & Universal Studios, and attending renowned events like the Coachella Music Festival. This advantageous location not only enriches the student experience with a balance of academic rigor and lifestyle enrichment but also positions UCR in a dynamic region conducive to innovation and cultural diversity, making it an appealing choice for students and other researchers.
